Printing
Luma supplies wire which is used as corona wire in large digital printers. The corona wire generates a field of positive charges. The wire is exposed to a high voltage which puts high demands on its durability and strength. Type of wire used is mainly gold plated tungsten and tungsten-rhenium but also cleaned and oxidized wire is used.

Conductors/Special cables/Connectors
Luma wire is used in so called “fuzz buttons” and “elastomeric connectors”. These types of connectors are used in for example mobile phones and computer work stations. Metals used for this application is gold plated and the different materials are molybdenum, brass wire and copper wire.

Antennas
This is very often project related business and in many cases related to governmental interests.  The wire supplied for this application is gold plated molybdenum as well as tungsten. The wire is often weaved by our customers into nets and we take great pride into the fact that Luma wire is circulating in space at this very moment.

Medical
Luma supplies wire to several medical companies. Examples of products are Stents – a tube which is inserted into for example a vessel in the body to prevent, or counteract, a disease-induced, localized flow constriction. The term may also refer to a tube used to temporarily hold such a natural conduit open to allow access for surgery.

Another example is the Balloon dilator or Guide wires which helps to safely access blood vessels or other organs.

Electro surgery -  is the application of a high-frequency electric current to biological tissue as a means to cut, coagulate, desiccate, or fulgurate tissue.

Automotive
Windshield technology uses thin wires placed between two layers of glass. Electricity heats the wire which also heats the windshield and defrosts.  This technology is used not only for automotives but also for larger ships.

Integrated circuit testing
An electrical probe test checks for shorts, opens, resistance, capacitance, and other basic quantities which will show whether the assembly was correctly fabricated. It may be performed with a bed of nails type test fixture and specialist test equipment.

Musical strings
Tungsten wire in several dimensions is used as winding wire for musical instruments such as cello and viola.  The high density of tungsten allows the strings to be thinner and yet withhold the frequency.

Lighting
Tungsten and molybdenum wire are used in mini-lights of several forms and shapes.

Technical research
The technical properties of tungsten, tungsten-rhenium offers several known, as well as un-known, ways to use it in experiments of all sorts. Luma, for example, supply sense wire for wire chambers to institutes and universities all over the world.
